Detail Library – New Details August 2026
House Extensions BLOG

On the Detail Library, this month we have been produced a new set of details in collaboration with Ecological Building Systems, specialists in sustainable building products and systems, and cover the application of their Retro Ecowall® internal wall insulation system to existing solid brick and stone walls.

Retro Ecowall® system is designed specifically for the retrofit of traditional solid masonry buildings, where improving thermal performance without compromising breathability or moisture management is essential.

This is part one in the series and it covers the core system build-up and the key junctions at roof eaves, intermediate floors, and wall intersections — the details that establish the continuity of insulation and airtightness across the building fabric.

The new set includes:

  • Retro Ecowall System Applied to Existing Wall – Solid Brick and Stone Section
  • Retro Ecowall – Cold Roof Eaves – Section
  • Retro Ecowall – Sloping Ceiling Cold Roof Eaves with Impermeable Underlay – Section
  • Retro Ecowall – Full Fill Warm Roof Eaves – Section
  • Retro Ecowall – Intermediate Floor Joists Parallel with Wall – Section
  • Retro Ecowall – Intermediate Floor Joists Perpendicular with Wall – Section
