Detail Library – New Details May 2025
House Extensions BLOG

On the Detail Library, this month we’re pleased to share a comprehensive new set of construction details showcasing best-practice design and build-ups for Porotherm clay block systems.

Porotherm is a precision-engineered clay block walling system that delivers fast construction, high thermal performance, and robust airtightness. These details are designed to support good practice implementation across a range of junctions — from ground-bearing slabs and party walls to eaves, windows, and doors. This is part one of a two part set.

Focusing on a range of cavity Porotherm wall types details, this set consists of:

  • Porotherm Wall to Window Head and Cill
  • Porotherm Wall to Window Jamb
  • Porotherm Wall to Eaves with Over Rafter Insulation
  • Porotherm Wall to Ventilated Loft Eaves
  • Porotherm Wall to Ground Bearing Slab with Below Slab Insulation
  • Porotherm Wall to Beam and Block Floor
  • Porotherm Wall to Intermediate Floor with Joist Bearing
  • Porotherm Wall to Party Wall (Plan View)
  • Party Wall to Ground Bearing Floor Slab
  • Porotherm Wall to Internal Wall (Plan View)
  • Porotherm Wall to Door Head and Threshold

If you’re working on a project using Porotherm systems, these details are an excellent resource to help meet performance standards while achieving speed and efficiency on site. We hope you find them useful.

  1. Emma, your work on details is great. I wish someone was doing a similar effort in the US for wood-frame construction, do you know if that’s the case? Best, Vincent
