Detail Library – New Details November 2025
House Extensions BLOG

On the Detail Library, following some recent member requests, we are expanding our collection of pitched roof and eaves junctions with a particular focus on warm roofs and ceiling-level insulation.

This new set of details supports a range of common and advanced construction scenarios, from traditional masonry cavity walls to contemporary timber frame systems, and includes solutions for both ventilated and airtight build-ups.

It includes a variety of eaves configurations – flush, exposed, and corbelled – along with both standard and bobtail truss options to maintain full insulation at ceiling level. We’ve also included loft boarding details for storage-ready roofspaces, rooflight shaft junctions, and metal standing seam roof systems, addressing both functional and aesthetic performance.

Included in this detail set:

  • Timber frame wall with timber cladding to flat roof parapet
  • Flush eaves to masonry cavity wall – insulation at ceiling level
  • Flush eaves to masonry cavity wall – bobtail truss with insulation at ceiling level
  • Corbelled eaves to masonry cavity wall – bobtail truss with insulation at ceiling level
  • Exposed eaves to masonry cavity wall – insulation at ceiling level
  • Exposed eaves to masonry cavity wall – bobtail truss with insulation at ceiling level
  • Timber clad timber frame eaves detail – insulation at ceiling
  • Timber clad timber frame eaves detail with hidden gutter – insulation at ceiling
  • Insulated rooflight shaft – pitched roof with insulation at ceiling level
  • Raised loft boarding system – pitched roof with insulation at ceiling level
  • Raised loft boarding system loft hatch & ladder – insulation at ceiling level
  • Standing seam insulated metal roof system eaves detail with box gutter
  • Standing seam insulated metal roof system eaves detail

These details are designed to be easily adapted for different construction types and performance targets. We hope you find them useful!
